Team Goddesses for a Cure is a special cause as one of the members, Lisa, is a fantastic foster home and volunteer for both BRAC and BTRC:

Each year, the Canadian Cancer Society hosts a Canada-wide event called the 12-Hour Relay for Life. This is an overnight event held to CELEBRATE cancer survivors, to REMEMBER loved ones lost to cancer, and to FIGHT BACK in the hope of finding a cure for this terrible disease. The Relay reminds us that cancer is not fun nor comfortable (held rain or shine, all night without sleep), but you discover the strength within you that you didn't know you had and can still see the bright side while having fun with your loved ones.

The "Goddesses for a Cure" team was formed in 2007 and was made up of family members & friends of the Davis family to honour Judy, a 2-time cancer survivor. They worked hard to raise funds that year and were quite successful on their first time out. 2008 was even more successful; so much so, that as the top fund-raising team for the Lower Sackville event, they won the exclusive use of the RAMAR RV for the evening.

2009 introduced the first annual Silent Auction event as part of their fundraising initiative; this helped them to be the top fundraising team once again, bringing in more than $20,000 overall (almost $5,000 from the Silent Auction alone). In addition, it was the first year the Goddesses experienced a torrential downpour during the Relay for Life, yet the smiles never stopped.

The Goddesses are pleased to be back for the 4th year in a row and are working hard to make 2010 their best year yet. They are hosting the 2nd Annual Silent Auction at the Lower Sackville Doolys on Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 7 - 10 pm.

This year's Relay for Life in Lower Sackville, NS takes place on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 7 pm to 7 am on Saturday, June 12, 2010. With your generous support, we can help make cancer history!

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada (BTRC) is a not-for-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to the safety and welfare of single breed and mixed breed Boston Terriers. Our rescue program takes in Boston Terriers all over Canada that are no longer wanted or that can no longer be cared for, and finds them with safe, loving “forever” homes where they will be cherished and loved.

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada will be at Pride Toronto 2010 as part of the Helping Homeless Pets booth at the Community Fair and Marketplace, July 3 and 4 (Queen's Park location). In honour of the festival, one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world, we are selling Rainbow Dog Collars with all proceeds going to support the care of dogs in BTRC's rescue program.
